Community members and supportive organizations (including not-so-local ones) have formed the
Postville Community Benefits Alliance to negotiate a CBA with the new owner of a kosher meat packing plant. Postville, a small Iowa town, is heavily impacted by the plant's operations, and community members want a method to initiate dialogue with the company. The company, however, wants nothing to do with a binding agreement. The entire situation is complicated by the checkered history of the previous plant owner, which went into bankruptcy after an immigration raid last year.
